Consultant Bio of Eric Birnbaum

Eric Birnbaum is the President and Principal Consultant for J.K. Harrison Consulting, a firm which specializes in delivering technology solutions that drive business success. Eric brings to his clients over 25 years of experience in technology consulting and software development. He has helped many of the worlds most widely recognized and respected companies meet and surpass their technology objectives.

 Eric has been delivering technology to the financial services industry since 1981, to firms such as Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse and the Federal Reserve Bank of NY. He recently worked with Deutsche Bank Global Equities Research to re-invent their research publishing platform, and with CreditSights, an independent fixed-income research and consulting firm, to more effectively deliver quantitative research to their clients.

Eric has conceived and created custom software for investment research, investment banking, asset management, trading, and compliance groups at some of the world’s largest financial institutions. He has also worked with regional commercial banks, insurance companies, rating agencies and small financial boutiques. Outside of financial services, Eric has successfully completed projects for large pharmaceutical and telecommunications companies; law, architecture, consulting, and accounting partnerships; high-end retailers, consumer products conglomerates and the U.S.'s largest ship-holding company.

Eric Birnbaum is a widely recognized leader in the customization and automation of the Microsoft desktop/Office platform. He is a frequent presenter at technology conferences and events including Microsoft Tech Ed, Developer Days, and several Office product launch events. At Plural, Inc, a Microsoft Partner of the Year award winner, Eric pioneered and built their first Office Development and Word Development Groups, recruiting and mentoring many top consultants. An application that Eric developed for Paine Webber was highlighted on stage by Bill Gates at the original Office launch for its innovative integration of Word and Excel.

As a director at Plural (currently Dell Services, formerly Micro Modeling Associates) Eric played a key management role in helping the company grow from 20 consultants in downtown Manhattan to over 500 employees in nine locations across the country. As Practice Manager he grew the Morristown, NJ office from 7 to 20 employees, and revenues by 500% in two years.

Eric graduated from Brown University in 1981 with a BA in Computer Science. He was a member of the Microsoft .Net Partner Advisory Council (PAC), and is a Microsoft Certified Professional with certifications in both development and technical training. Prior to his days as a consultant, Eric held full-time technology positions at The Globecon Group, a financial services industry consultancy; Matthews and Wright, a public finance investment bank; and at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
